The Week That Was | NBA Playoffs | College Football and NFL Schedule | 45th Anniversary of Magic Johnson's Finest Moment As A Rookie

The NBA Playoffs is moving towards the Conference Finals as the Indiana Pacers knocked off the top seed in the Eastern Conference in the Cleveland Cavaliers who was always the best team record wise all year as neck and neck with Oklahoma City Thunder for the best record but it was for naught because they were eliminated in 5 games. The Cleveland Cavaliers season was an epic failure due to being unable to make it to the Eastern Conference Finals. The Indiana Pacers will be in their second consecutive Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2013-2014 during the Paul George Era. The Pacers will be looking for redemption to get to the Finals awaiting the winner of Knicks/Celtics.


Meanwhile in the Western Conference the Minnesota Timberwolves advanced to the Western Conference Finals for the second consecutive season eliminating the Golden State Warriors in 5 games. The Timberwolves will be awaiting the next opponent whether it be the Thunder or the Nuggets because on Sunday May 18th there will be a Game 7.



Now the College Football Schedule is out and there are intriguing early season games to seek your teeth into such as Georgia Tech vs Colorado on August 29th because Head Coach Deion Sanders will begin the new season without Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter how does the team adjust with those key players. On August 30th,the Syracuse Orange will face the Tennessee Volunteers in the post Nico Iamaleava era who transferred.


The Alabama vs Florida State matchup will take place on August 30th as well at Tallahassee then LSU vs Clemson on the same date. Then on August 31,a old rivalry from yesteryear will be renewed when Notre Dame will play Miami. On September 1st the Bill Belichick era begins at North Carolina as the Tar Heels will open their season opener at home facing TCU. Finally the defending champion Ohio State Buckeyes will open their season against the Texas Longhorns as the Arch Manning era will begin.


Let's look at the NFL schedule where there a plethora of intriguing games to check out this season like on November 2nd during Week 9 when Kansas City Chiefs will face the Buffalo Bills at Buffalo. The Detroit Lions will face the Philadelphia Eagles during Week 11 at Philadelphia on November 16th. The Los Angeles Rams will travel to Baltimore during Week 6 on October 12th to face the Ravens. Week 2: The Philadelphia Eagles will face in the Super Bowl rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs on September 14th. Then the Cincinnati Bengals will play against the Buffalo Bills during the Week 14 on December 7th.


On May 16th 1980, Los Angeles Lakers Magic Johnson as a rookie had a exceptional Magic moment as he scored 42 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and dished out 7 assists as the Los Angeles Lakers won the NBA Championship defeating the Philadelphia 76ers by score of 123-107. Johnson also was 14-14 from the free throw line. 45 years ago this Magic occurred putting Magic Johnson on the cover of Sports Illustrated after winning the championship plus doing it without the injured Kareem Abdul Jabbar in the process.
