The NBA landscape of teams making moves continues in the NBA offseason with NBA Free Agency going strong. The standout free agent signing was Myles Turner leaving the Indiana Pacers to sign with the Milwaukee Bucks resulting in a 4-year,107 million dollar contract. This signing was a shocker because the Pacers not signing Turner for a new deal was a head scratcher because he was a key contributor to the Indiana Pacers success especially falling one game short in the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Myles Turner signing with the Milwaukee Bucks is an upgrade because of the departure of Brook Lopez signing with the Los Angeles Clippers. But the Milwaukee Bucks didn't bring back Damien Lillard so yes he was injury prone but is the Milwaukee Bucks a title contender with the addition of Myles Turner only time will tell.
In other NBA news, DeAndre Ayton signed with the Los Angeles Lakers with a 2-year deal is he a replacement of Anthony Davis only time will tell with this signing. The Denver Nuggets definitely was proactive in the overhaul of their roster especially trading Michael Porter Jr to the Brooklyn Nets for Cam Johnson including an unprotected 2032 first round pick. Johnson's addition could be a plus because he is lethal from 3-point range overall a 39% shooter from 3-point range. This move could be a huge upgrade for the Denver Nuggets.
Bruce Brown was brought back by the Denver Nuggets who was a key contributor to the Denver Nuggets championship season of 2023. Tim Hardaway Jr signed with the Nuggets as well so the Nuggets are doing their due diligence to build around Nikola Jokic.
In the NBA Head Coaching news, the New York Knicks finally hired a new coach to replace Tom Thibodeau which is Mike Brown who recently coached the Sacramento Kings. The overview of the Eastern Conference looks to be wide open with the Pacers losing Myles Turner and the possible return of Tyrese Haliburton and his injury. The Boston Celtics are going to be a different team especially with the losses of Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis.
Dave Parker who was known as Cobra recently passed away at the age of 74 was ahead of his time with his size and power who won MVP in 1978 with the Pittsburgh Pirates including 2 batting titles. Parker also won 2 championships in the National League with the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Oakland As in the American League.
The 1980 Philadelphia Phillies won the World Series which is the 45th Anniversary of the Philadelphia Phillies defeating the Kansas City Royals. This World Series featured a Hall of Fame extravaganza featuring Pete Rose who was on the Philadelphia Phillies including obviously Mike Schmidt who the league MVP of the World Series and Steve Carlton.
The Phillies won the World Series in 6 games. This World Series championship for The Philadelphia Phillies was truly significant due to the 97 year drought without winning a championship since the franchise began in 1883.
