Episode 3 gave us another solid mix of action, heart, and those little callbacks that longtime Walking Dead fans live for. Right off the bat, it feels like the show is teasing us with a touch of romance between Carol and Antonio. It’s not overdone—just a few subtle looks, some banter, and a moment of closeness that makes you wonder if the writers are planting the seeds for something more. Honestly, it’s refreshing to see Carol get even the hint of tenderness after everything she’s endured.

Meanwhile, Daryl is… well, still Daryl. The man doesn’t miss a beat. The beach sequence was classic Dixon—taking down walkers with that gritty, no-nonsense style we’ve seen since day one. And of course, in true Daryl fashion, he ends up saving Roberto, cementing himself as the group’s quiet protector.

But the episode wasn’t just about the core crew. Daryl’s run-in with Valentina and her “friends” (quotation marks fully deserved) was fascinating. It’s hard to tell if they’re allies, opportunists, or just another flavor of apocalypse-weird, but it adds another layer of tension to where this journey is headed.

The best moment for fans, though, might’ve been the Rubik’s cube at the statue. That little callback to season 1—Laurent’s cube being left behind—hit with the kind of nostalgia gut punch this spinoff thrives on. It was subtle, but it tied Daryl’s current path back to the early days of the apocalypse, making us remember just how far he’s come.

And while we’re watching all this unfold, Roberto is still completely in the dark about Justina switching places with Alba so she can slip away with Guillermo’s convoy. That reveal is bound to blow up later, and you just know it’s going to create some brutal emotional fallout.

By the end of the episode, the table’s set nicely for what’s next. With new allies (or enemies?) in Valentina’s camp, Carol and Antonio’s bond deepening, and Roberto about to be blindsided by the truth, episode 4 is shaping up to be full of drama, danger, and more of that trademark Daryl grit.
